Nouveau/Organica Palette Review and Giveaway!

Lately, I have been really wanting to use makeup that is ‘good for me’ and not all chemicals. Your skin is the biggest organ of the body- Why would you want to slather chemicals all onto it for your body to absorb?  I also hate to think of poor animals being tested on just so I can wear makeup. So my organic and cruelty free makeup search ensued.

I found an awesome company called Nouveau/Organica. All Nouveau/Organica products are 100% Organic, chemical free, cruelty free, soy-free, gluten-free, no fragrance, no silicone, no talc, no petroleum derived ingredients, no beeswax or animal derived products, no dyes, no parabens or synthetic preservatives and the list goes on!

I was offered one of the Refresh/Renew palettes to review (and there’s one for a lucky reader)!

So far Nouveau/Organica has released only 2 palettes.  The Inaugural Palette which was released and sold through January. Now there is the Refresh/Renew palette which was all of February and some of March and then the new one will be released and so on. So each collection is a limited edition collection. You can either buy the whole palette for $89.99 (it’s 12 full size colors so that breaks down to $7.50 a color) or you can buy your colors separately from the website for $12.50 a piece.

The first thing I want to say about the palette is- it’s HUGE! I feel like an artist about to work on my ‘masterpiece’ when I hold it! Each palette is housed in a sleek, slim (yet sturdy), magnetized,  black case. Also, you can pop out and arrange the colors as you choose. Each color is totally organic, all natural, and made from wild harvested ingredients as well as vegan, soy-free, gluten free, and cruelty free! How awesome is that?! (I know I already said some of that but just in case you missed it I said it again.) Also, the palette was packaged beautifully with pretty hand-written tags with my name and product info cards.

Each collection contains limited edition colors specific to that collection (4 eye colors and 4 contour colors) as well as concealer/foundation, eye/lip primer, powder illuminator, and cream contour (bronzer color).

The Refresh/Renew collection contains:

(I will go from top to bottom and left to right)

-Organic Concealer/Cream Foundation in your choice of Light or Medium (I got light)

-Organic Eye/Lip Primer (white, goes on clear)

-Organic Cream Contour (brown)

-Organic Powder Illuminator

-3 Organic Pressed Powder Eyeshadows in Limited Edition shades of:    -Energize (pale yellow with gold shimmer), Excite (rust color with light amount of gold shimmer. This color is more matte looking but still has a tiny bit of shimmer when rubbed in), Exhilarate (pinky, tan with golden pinky shimmer).

-1 Smudgy, liner/shadow base called Invigorate that is a charcoal/blackish grey (Limited Edition)

-4 Limited Edition Cream Contour colors in:

Recharge, Restore, Replenish, Revive- I can’t even begin to describe these colors! I’m so bad at describing some colors. They are very pigmented and richly colored!

I really could not find anything bad about this palette. I do want to say, however, that if you want to really see the eyeshadows than you do need to use the included primer (or one of your own). I also want to say that the cream contours were semi-hard to get off of my skin (my arm was also harder than my cheek). Not terribly hard just harder than normal makeup and I just want to let you know my honest experience. Nothing that soap and water couldn’t handle. I didn’t even use makeup remover so maybe with makeup remover it wouldn’t have been too hard.
