Budget Beauty

Hi! I am Cait- Mother of 2 girls with a 7 year age gap! I love beauty (especially natural/organic) and fashion. I'm a Maltese dog lover, fitness enthusiast, pop culture buff, lover of all things that make life beautiful! I am a serious shoe, purse, and skinny jeans addict. I am so happy you found my blog- where I share my 'adventures' in reviewing sub boxes, Influenster VoxBoxes, and collaborations/reviews/giveaway with companies that have products I think you'll love. I also share super good deals that you don't want to miss!

Category: Subscription Boxes

Birchbox for $5 or Get a FREE full size $25 Make lipgloss Gift with Purchase

About once a year Birchbox has a half off deal where you can get your box for $5 instead of $10! Personally, ten dollars/month is a bit too much for me for samples. But you can’t really go wrong with $5. (especially now that Birchbox has ‘revamped’ their box where you can choose between different boxes or you can choose your samples and there’s a few other things that are new options.)

BIRCHBOX is having a few deals right now- first if you sign up using my link you will get $5 in the shop (deal ends October 9) and if you use code 5box —– you will get your first box at $5 (which is half off).
Or you can use code MAKEGWS which will get you a free full size $25 luminous lipgloss from MAKE in dragonfruit.

I usually get the $5 box and then get the next months box and base whether if I should keep going. I used to like Ipsy because at least you would get deluxe and full size products. It’s been a while (like a year) since I’ve gotten a Birchbox and they’ve done a ton of upgrades like customizing and picking different samples.

Who Doesn’t LOVE Cute (and Affordable) Workout Clothes? Fabletics Review- 50% discount code

Hey ya’ll! It’s been a hella long time since I’ve blogged. I have been on IG daily…I am really bad at keeping a “blogging schedule” anyway, but I hadn’t been sick in years and then BAM- all of a sudden, me and the baby have been super sick- we were at doctor like 2x a week for the last month. I had an ear infection and my ear drum burst! She had a head cold, then a chest cold and needed nebulizer treatments again, then when it looked like she was getting better she got a tumy bug and got hives everywhere!

Anyway, I haven’t been working out much since the end of May, other than long walks with the kiddos, but I love cute workout clothes! I love workout clothes for home for an actual workout–But I Really love cute workout clothes for the neighbors (or whomever) to see me walking in lol. We live about a 15-20 minute walk from our town jungle gym & sprinkler park/splash pad so we walk there a lot …..

Some of the best and highest quality workout/athletic clothes, especially for price, are from Fabletics! I’ve ordered from them 3 times. The first time was about two years ago- I got a 3 piece outfit (sweatshirt, bra, Lima capri) for $25. The same fall I ordered another 3 piece outfit (jacket, bra, Lima capri) and I did it under a different email so I could get the new member discount of $25 again lol. I cancelled both monthly accounts after because I couldn’t afford the monthly price and was afraid I would forget to skip.

I continue to get their emails, which I highly recommend doing because about 3 weeks ago, I saw an AMAZING sale (that they rarely do.)   I got a 3 piece outfit for around $18!!!!!! (And included shipping)! I think instead of the normal 50% off (making outfits $25), the sale was like 70% off, making outfits around $17-18!!!

Seriously. How could I not take up that offer?

image

River of Grass Outfit

I got the cutest outfit! I got a black and white sports bra (with cups because I’m super flat and deflated from breastfeeding two kiddos lol  I’m only an A cup/small B). I also got a super soft black tank top that looks awesome over the black and white bra. The tank leaves just a little bit of room to see a little of the black/white bra but not so much that it looks trashy because I love modest clothing…..

And—–I finally got my hands on some camo leggings! I had wanted a pair of Fabletics’ camo leggings for like 6 months when they launched! (One thing that ‘stinks’ about Fabletics is if you don’t buy a popular item and it sells fast (like all their camo stuff sold fast) you’re most likely not going to get it …..so act fast if you see something that you like! But you can put your email on a restock list and supposedly the more people who want it restocked, the more likely it will come back….

All this for $18- Yes, Please!

All this for $18- Yes, Please!

^^^^^^here is a pic of the outfit that I got^^^^^^

You can see all the options that the shirt and leggings come in besides what I ordered. So many choices for the leggings!

You can see all the options that the shirt and leggings come in besides what I ordered. So many choices for the leggings!

I love Fabletics because all the leggings I have from them have been worn tons of times over the last 2.5 years- working out or doing errands after working out- and are still like new. My black pair with red lines are the oldest and most worn, but you’d never know! The only worn area is where upper/inner thighs rub but people really can’t see it, only I know it. I’ve also worn my Fabletics sports bras quite a bit and they are like I just bought them! My jacket has only been worn a handful of times because it’s tight and not my style but is still like new. And my teal sweatshirt is so soft and other than the stain that is from me, is still soft and amazing!  So for $25 – the outfits will last you at least 1-3 years, possibly more I just haven’t gotten there yet! That’s money well spent!

My ‘secret’ to keep lots of things like new is- I wash them (either by machine or hand) but DON’T dry them! I hang over shower curtain or lay flat to dry! Bras (sports or regular), workout pants, leggings (regular or workout)- I never dry because it messes with the elasticity and will wreck it eventually!

If you use the new member discount and get the outfits for $20-25 you really can’t beat that. I don’t really want to spend $50+ on their clothes (even though they are worth it!) but you can do the first time buyer discount, get your outfit, and then cancel or skip as many months as you want. Just remember to skip by the 5th of every month!  Their clothes are worth the $45-55 that they charge after your first month but I just can’t afford it.

Currently, they’re not having the super sale that I lucked out on getting but if you sign up now you can get your first outfit for $25 with free shipping and returns. Or sign up for emails and watch for the emails that say “save 70%” (they just had a 70% one day sale over this weekend that I missed!)

http://www.fabletics.com/invite/budgetbeautysite/

If you use my invite link/code it should be automatically set up for the $25  outfit (which is basically half off the full price of the outfit). And after you get 3 or 2 awesome pieces for way cheap, you can either keep your membership and just remember to skip by the 5th of every month or you can just cancel it (I beleive you have to call or live chat to cancel, although one time I did cancel via email but I don’t know if that’s changed).

I would just either create an account or sign up for emails and then maybe you will see an awesome sale pop up again soon. But I had never saw them do anything that cheap before that’s why I acted super fast!

They also just launched their first capsule collection called Fly- which I think is pretty ‘fly’! Haha…. FLY. Is designed to be a capsule collection of pieces you can wear for working out or going out. And since it is a capsule collection (for those who don’t know what that is. I didn’t until about 5 months ago) every piece could be worn with another and they all match …..

They also just launched a men’s collection, which could be a good Father’s Day goft for the active Dad in your life. I have been seeing some emails offering some pretty good sales on the men’s collections to promote it.

If you didn’t know, Fabletics is founded and created by Kate Hudson (who I love)….she does a really good job putting the outfits together. Fabletics has pictures on their site and Facebook and IG of her, and other super stars, wearing Fabletics clothes out in public and ‘in real life’.

Between the men’s launch and the Fly capsule collection launch it seems like they’re really branching out. They’re obviously doing well. But when you sell great quality stuff at great prices, you go places! Their customer service used to get a lot of complaints on the fb page but I have never had a issue. They’ve always let me fix my issues. My only complaint is they are hard to understand most of the time.

So check em out, if you haven’t yet! Obviously, I would love if you use my link so I could get $10 off another outfit lol.

*******update june 23 2015—- so just to amuse myself I clicked my own referral link and I see that this outfit is still available! If you’re interested- it’s toward the bottom of the page where it says “popular women’s” and it shows/scrolls a bunch of different outfits, one of which is the River of Grass! But it is $25. But that’s pretty great for a 3 piece outfit that I know will last a while!

My #FabFItJourney Contest Entry—-Please Vote for Me—

As you all know I LOVE a good giveaway! I have been lucky enough to win an Ipad mini, a trampoline (Belicon Rebounder), a $250 DSW gift card just recently…. but I just still love to enter. It’s almost and addiction. I’ve won lots of other smaller prizes too!

I entered a contest recently from Fabletics called #FabFitJourney (which is a weird name because it makes me think of the FabFitFun box lol). I am in like 13th place but I need to make top ten to be eligible to win a prize. Basically, in the fine print, it says Fabletics will choose 3 winners from the top ten people with the most votes to win shopping sprees/money to Fabletics.

It stinks when you are so close that you feel like you could win but still are so far away.

Anyway, I am trying to rally for as many votes as I can so if  you are reading this feel free to click the link I will provide. The link will take you to Fabletics Facebook page where I have my picture and my ‘story’. I”m currently at 197 votes but I need like 244 to beat the person in the ten spot.

This was a daily vote thing but I didn’t enter until a little later than most people. The top lady has something like over 600! Craziness. And my friend Brandy told me that there are actual ‘voting’ exchange sites that people can join to get more votes. That stinks and I would love to do it but it’s basically cheating.

Here is the link that will bring you to my picture

http://bit.ly/1gir6O7

Once  you get there you will  be asked to like Fabletics, unless you already do. Then when you hit vote it will ask you to post to your wall (all it posts to your wall is that you voted for me which you can later delete. I already tried hitting ‘not now’ or ‘dont’ allow’ and if you do that then it does not let you vote…. so please hit allow and then fix it later).

The voting closes Sunday June 1 at midnight. (which is later tonight).

This is the pic you will see when you click  my link——

Thanks so much for helping!Image

Obsessed with Contests

I have entered a few contests lately and I will share them with you= Mostly in hopes that you will vote for me but also so if you want to enter, you can.

The first and most important one to me is the one from Fabletics.

The link to vote for me is here-

http://bit.ly/1gir6O7

once there you must like Fabletics *which is workout clothing line sponsored by Kate Hudson. If you like at a later date you can  unlike them. They don’t clutter up my fb feed so I don’t mind them. Anyway, after you like them you have to hit ‘vote’. I think a lot of my friends hit like and not vote. hit both if you want. It says I have something like 78 likes on my pic  but only 21 votes…. so that stinks. The most votes I have seen is like 80-100 so I’m really losing lol. So please help! Also this is a daily voting contest. so you can do it once to help or if you really love me you can do it daily. Also, another thing that you must do is they ask you to allow to post to your wall.  you must hit yes othewise it wont let you vote for me. All they post to your wall is that you voted for me *or whomever else you choose to vote for. You can also undo this at a later date. And thanks in advance for your help!

If you enter, let me know and I will return the favor.

The next one that I would like your help for and like you to enter yourself is the IT Cosmetics #ItsGotYouCovered contest. You can enter on Ig or FB. All you have to do is post a pic of you wearing your It cosmetics and share with the hashtage #itsgotyoucovered why It cosmetics is great for you. I have a lot of votes on this one but I would love to be one of the finalists picked to win a grand prize! I have 34 votes currently but more is always better 🙂

I believe this link will take you to my pic. it is of me and my baby 🙂 who just had her first  bday today 🙂 but she has a double ear infection so it wasn’t a very happy few days.

https://www.facebook.com/itcosmetics?sk=app_451684954848385&brandloc=DISABLE&app_data=view-vote%2Cfor-2755228

again, if you enter let me know and I will return the favor. If you want more info just to go their FB page.

And check out my birchbox post bc that offer ends 5-26

Glossybox- La Prairie Box- Sold OUT!

Image

This is the La Prairie Glossybox

I had received an ‘early invite’ email from Glossybox saying that I could reserve my box early and be one of the first to get it.

It was $40 so I contemplated not getting it. But after talking to a few readers on my Facebook page, they said that this brand is quite nice. So I decided to take the plunge.

In the email they had showed three of the items and said that two of the items would later be revealed.

It is also said to include two never before seen products! And I looked up the prices of the items on Ebay and they go for a lot of money!!!

I’m quite excited to try it out!

I heard that it was sold out the same day it was announced, but that could be because they early released it to some people like me…

Here is the full list of items:

Experience luxury skincare with the limited-edition La Prairie GLOSSYBOX. Inside, you’ll find a complete regimen from start to finish, including two never-before-seen products.
The box includes:

  • Foam Cleanser
  • Cellular Refining Lotion
  • Essence of Skin Caviar Eye Complex
  • Cellular Swiss Dry Oil
  • Cellular Swiss Ice Cream

Stay tuned for my review that will be up as soon as I get my box!

Nadine West- Newer Fashion and Accessories Box Review

Image

The Package- Nadine West packages look a lot like Ipsy but that’s fine with me! Love these!

Image

This was my whole package- Isn’t it cute! Thank you note and all!

Image

This is the outfit with the jewelry that I received.

Image

The earrings on me. So cute.

Image

Just the accessories.

just added to post— use code BudgetBeauty2014 to get $10 in jewelry

Nadine West is a newer service that is FREE, yup, absolutely free.

It’s similar to other subscriptions and boxes in the sense that they have you fill out a style profile quiz/survey. After you make your style profile, they will send you a shirt or a dress with 2-3 pieces of jewelry every month.

You only are billed for what you keep.

So review time- 1) sign up and take the style quiz

2) Every month, you’ll receive a package with an outfit tailored to your personal style.

3) There is a two week time frame to keep the pieces before you are charged. Which is pretty awesome!

4) You won’t pay shipping and there are “no sneaky catches”. The only charges that you will encounter are for outfits/pieces kept over the 2-Week limit. Every item will have an associated price between $9.99-$29.99

The one thing that they do, is authorize the credit card that you provide for the amount of the items sent. You will not be charged if you don’t want any of it (it will show as pending until you decide what you want to do) or if you send it back within the two week period. If they didn’t charge some kind of cost, I’m sure people would just keep most of their stuff without paying!

When you get their package they send a card with the prices of all the items and directions on how to go about mailing back what you don’t want. They even send return labels with their address and yours put on the label, stickers to seal the envelope and return postage.

I got sent this package for review. I got a really cute and soft black tank with white lace back. I also got a small bag of jewelry with two pieces of jewelry in it. There was a dragonfly necklace that was long with a brassy color and a turquoise colored center. I also got really cute black “dangley” earrings.

I liked the look of the earrings and the shirt together a lot.. The dragonfly necklace kinda through me for a loop. Do you think it matches?  I think, once it’s put all together it looks OK, but I. personally, would have picked a different necklace. Once it’s all together it does look cute though.

What do you think? At least I definitely love the shirt and earrings!

Ok now for the real details about Nadine West subscription.

To sign up is free.

The actual costs are:

Red Bagged Items: $24.99

Purple Bagged Items: $17.99

Black Bagged Items: $9.99
Shirts: $13.49
Like I said they do ‘authorize’ your credit card for the amount of the items. You will never be charged for the actual amount/the pending charge will not go through unless you don’t return the items.
Here what they say on their site:
From Nadine West: “Short Answer: The Pending Charge will NOT apply to your account until the end of your two-week period is up (if you keep all/some of the items). It is only present to ensure you have enough funds on your card to cover the potential charge amount. At the end of the two week period, the reserved funds will vanish without capturing the amount on your card if you do not choose to keep items. This method is NOT charging and refunding an amount as the pending amount never pushes through as an actual charge.

The best part, besides the FREE and that you keep stuff for up to two weeks, is that you can SKIP months! As most of my reader’s know- I LOVE SUBS THAT LET YOU SKIP MONTHS!!

I’m so broke this month- and I can’t even tell you how many subs I just ‘lost’ because they wouldn’t let me skip a month… There was even one that I finally came up with the money for and they refused to let me keep my points that I had racked up! Lame. That’s another post in itself though!

If you want to skip or cancel just email MyOutfits@NadineWest.com

Their website is pretty easy  www.nadinewest.com

Their Facebook https://www.facebook.com/NadineWestOutfits

They are pretty easy if you want to change your stuff around. Like, if you want just jewelry they will do it. If you want just more expensive things, they will do it, etc.

So I think that’s it…. I was on a roll with this post and then the baby woke up… now I am all lost lol.

What do you think? I would love to sign up for good but for now it must wait… sadly.

If I did miss any of your questions they do have an “about’ section and answer many questions, ones I didn’t even think of.

Julep’s January Box is Live

Image

January’s Color’s- Satin and Silk Finishes

Image

My Selections- Modern Beauty Box with 3 Add-Ons

I’m sure if you’re one of my readers you have heard of Julep.  If not I will briefly tell you a little about them- don’t worry I will spare the non-important details.

$20 a month and you get a monthly box with either beauty/skin/nail product (modern beauty box), 3 polishes (it girl box), or 2 polishes and 1 product (classic with a twist, boho glam, and bombshell boxes).

The best part about Julep is that

you CAN SKIP any months that you don’t like

and

if you don’t like the monthly box that is picked for you from your beauty profile quiz, you can view and select any of the boxes.

I change mine every month.

On top of the $20 (actually $19.99 and free shipping always) you can select add-ons from the other boxes that you didn’t choose or they have special add-ons. They are all marked way down to like $4 a polish and around $10 per product.

I’ve gotten the last 4 boxes. I signed up in September, got October, November, December, and now January. I’m supposed to be getting some code for a free polish for getting 3 boxes in a row but I’ll have to call them probably.

Another “perk” is you accumulate “Jules” from your monthly box purchases and once you have a certain amount you can apply them toward your monthly box. I have 1500 and will be getting 300 more for this month. I think 2000 is a free box.

I’m not too impressed with the color selection this month. I do really like their satin finish though!  I bought Lola which is a navy, satin finish from November’s box and I am in love with it.  Silk is what I am assuming is another new finish. I will be getting one of those just to see what it does. Julep’s texture finish polishes have been awesome.

I will be getting the two lilac colors and the sandy pink- Noelle, Mae, and Farrah. Farrah is my favorite but a lot of the time they look different in person and on me. Some look better, some worse- some I thought I would hate now I love and vice-versa.

I’ll stop rambling now… Check out the January box. If you’re already a maven what will you be getting?

If not, I will leave my referral link and would be ever so grateful if you use mine to sign up.

http://www.julep.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/332461/

They were, and I believe still are offering your first box free with code FREEBOX or there are a bunch of other codes. If FREEBOX doesn’t work there is FREEMAVEN or let me know and I will get you one that works! Sometimes it will cost about $1-2 depending on what code you use. Mine was absolutely free.

You do need credit card info though so they can bill you monthly on the 24th-27th area if you don’t skip that month. You literally can sign up, get your free box, then either call and cancel or keep skipping.

I’m sure you will fall in love and not skip as much as you’d like!

Gift Idea For a “Fishing Enthusiast”

ImageImageFreshwater and Saltwater Lures and Info Cards

Image

Freshwater Fly

Getting gifts for men, especially husbands, isn’t the easiest thing, at least for me it’s not. They always have the “if want it I will buy it” type attitude or “everything I want I already have”.

The 3 things my hubby really likes to do are: fish, golf, and anything Playstation. For Christmas I thought of getting him a Playstation 4 but I can’t find one anywhere and they are so expensive. If I got one it would be the only thing I got.

He is getting a little jealous that I get so much in the mail so when he heard that they have a fishing/lure box out there he said he wanted to try it.

Pictured above is the box from the people over at Fishing Enthusiast (www.fishingenthusiast.com). If you think this type of box would be good for a man in your life (dad, brother, friend, significant other), all orders placed by December 17th are said to arrive by Christmas! And if you don’t want it to start this month, there is an option to start in January.

They have a freshwater lure option, a saltwater lure option, and freshwater fly of the month. The lures that I have seen come with an info card and story about how they came to be.

By far the best lure I have ever seen is the “Bomber Badonkadonk” LOL.

My guy is definitely just a freshwater guy. We go up to his uncles lake with the kiddos and have a day of fishing. My 7 year old usually is too loud and scares away all the fish.

Price options:

3 months for $53

6 months for $96

one year for $180

I like the 3 or 6 month option a lot since we live up in one of the colder states. He thought it was a great idea to get a subscription now and he could ‘collect’ the lures all winter and have enough good ones to start fishing next spring/summer.

They even have a blog where they feature their monthly lures and other posts at  http://www.fishingenthusiast.blogspot.com/

Not only will this in time for Christmas (shipping usually is between the 15-20) but they are offering my readers a 10% discount.

Use “FishingBeauty” at checkout for 10% off any subscription!

What do you think- would this be good for any of the men in your life? I know a few that would love it!

So that’s one idea that I will be doing!

Christmas gift issues solved!

Mistobox Info-Review- and Cyber Monday Savings

Image

First Look

Image

The Info Card and Coffe Bags- I thought you would be able to see this a little better in the pic but I guess not!

Image

I had won a month of a monthly coffee subscription called Mistobox and it arrived last week. I love coffee so I was pretty excited to try this out. They take the hassle out of picking a coffee for you by picking four of the most legendary coffees and deliver it to your door. By signing up for a subscription you also get other little perks such as discounts on full size bags of coffee and brew equipment from their site, free shipping, and tips and brewing advice.

I had wished they had an option to come ground because my coffee grinder is broken but I learned that by grinding the coffee it would lose its freshness. To keep its freshness, it comes in a sealed bag that is pretty thick and is airtight. I got a information card with tips on it and I learned a few things like storing coffee in the freezer actually is bad! They say to grind it every time right before serving so I am going to have to go buy a grinder! My Mom says I can find a cheap one for like $15-20. I suppose this is only half a review because I can’t tell you what it tastes like yet! Sorry about that! I will let you know as soon as I know.

The coffee comes with a card that has a small paragraph about where it came from. I really liked the two informational cards that I got. I learned a lot.

The four coffees that I got were:

Coava, El Salvador Santa Sofia- Tasting notes are floral aromatics, brown sugar, ‘comforting’- This one sounds pretty good.

Onyx Coffee Lab, Costa Rica Naranjo Lourdes-  Tasting notes are lime, acidity, creamy, Nutella, “dynamic”. I love Nutella!

Crema, Honduras Ojo De Agua- Tasting notes are wildflower, honey, tofee, “familiar”. *I’m most excited to try this one!*

Klatch Coffee, Panama Carmen Estate Reserve- Tasting notes are Key lime, honey, sweetness, “complex”- I may like this.

Also on the coffee packets is info like origin, the process that made it, variety, elevation, and the tasting notes (above).

There are two kinds of subscriptions:

$20/month and you get four 1.7 oz. bags of whole bean coffee.

$30/month and you get four 3.4 oz. bags of whole bean coffee.

If any of this sounds good to you check out the cyber Monday offer at the top. They are offering 50% off subscriptions, unfortunately not gift subscription though! Which is a shame because this would make an awesome gift. They are also offering 20% off everything else. So for $10 you can try the one that I got.

This would be a great gift for a coworker, boss, hubby, friend, sister, brother, Ok I can stop- pretty much anyone who likes coffee would appreciate this!

I will either update this post when I taste it or I will just do a new post so stay tuned. . .

Happy Cyber Monday!
